Vitamin D is essential for healthy skin

Vitamin D helps your skin stay optimally healthy. It boosts barrier function, keeping moisture in and protecting you from environmental toxins and pathogens. It also helps balance your skin’s immune system, reducing sub-clinical inflammation and slowing down signs of ageing.

Sufficient Insufficient Deficient Average Vitamin D Levels

The majority of the world is now vitamin D deficient.

Most people don’t get enough direct sunlight because they spend so much time indoors, wear covering clothing, and use sunscreen. Unfortunately, taking vitamin D supplements hasn’t been very effective in addressing issues linked to low vitamin D levels.

Provitamin D + UVB light = Previtamin D Provitamin D + UVB light = Previtamin D

Our skin is the body’s natural Vitamin D pathway.

From tiny plankton to primates, all animals need Vitamin D…and humans are no exception. When UV light hits our skin, it converts provitamin D in our skin’s natural oils into previtamin D, which then becomes Vitamin D3. Here is the cool part: our bodies are pretty smart about this. They have a built-in safety system to keep Vitamin D at healthy levels. If you get excess Previtamin D, your body simply redirects it into other helpful compounds called Lumisterol and Tachysterol (L3 & T3). These aren’t just backup storage… they actually benefit your skin too. It’s your body’s natural way of preventing any issues while keeping everything balanced.

D~Ray helps skin produce more Vitamin D without sun exposure.

The D~Ray device delivers previtamin D in the palm of your hand. Its UV LED emits light at 295 nm and converts provitamin D into previtamin D and other sterols, just like sunlight does. This allows your body to create vitamin D safely and naturally. Consistent use improves skin health and boosts systemic vitamin D levels without sun exposure.

Vitamin D

It’s now possible to help solve our Vitamin D deficiency.

Our tests show a 53% increase in 25-hydroxy Vitamin D after 40 applications. D~Ray also produces two other sterols from Provitamin D: Tachysterol and Lumisterol. These “by-products” have been linked to improved skin condition and overall health.

Previtamin D is unstable at room temperature, making supplementation with this intermediate impractical until now. D~Ray’s patented technology (US Patent No. 18/826,566) produces Previtamin D on tap to supplement Vitamin D through the skin’s safe, natural pathway.

D~Ray serum contains provitamin D. The device’s UVB light activates the serum and converts it into pre-vitamin D3. Your skin then produces vitamin D3 as it would when exposed to sunlight. D~Ray also creates Tachysterol and Lumisterol, helping maintain balance in vitamin D metabolism. Vitamin D from D~Ray Synthetic vitamin D3 - taken orally or applied topically does not use the body’s natural pathway. And it does not produce tachysterol and lumisterol. It supplements at the end of the process, missing out on at least 18 active metabolites Vitamin D from Supplements Hover over to pause and read

D~Ray is more effective than supplements.

For millions of years, humans have relied on sun exposure, not diet, for Vitamin D production. The body needs 600 I.U. daily, but 15 minutes of sunlight can produce 15,000 I.U. However, sunlight isn’t always accessible, and a healthy diet provides only up to 200 I.U. daily.

While effective against rickets, synthetic Vitamin D supplements have proven ineffective for conditions linked to low vitamin D. A 26,000-person NIH trial concluded that “oral supplements don’t prevent major diseases or extend life”. Long-term risks of supplementation include arterial plaque formation even at modest doses. Unlike sun-derived Vitamin D, which enters the bloodstream gradually over 7-14 days, oral Vitamin D is rapidly processed by the liver and may incorporate into low-density lipoprotein. Since the body has no natural mechanism to handle high synthetic doses, this can pose risks. Animal studies associate even non-toxic doses with atherosclerosis. Supplementation also offers limited benefits for skin health.

The more we learn, the more we uncover about Vitamin D’s importance for overall wellbeing. It helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, supports the immune system, reduces inflammation, and maintains healthy muscles and nerves, with recent research suggesting it may reduce the risk of diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

Increased Vitamin D levels have also been linked to improvements in mental wellbeing, including both mood regulation and cognitive health. Studies have found that vitamin D deficiency is common in patients with mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. Vitamin D has shown potential in alleviating symptoms of ADHD in children.

As our understanding grows, so does our appreciation of Vitamin D’s importance for skin, body, and mental wellbeing.
